It would be difficult to think of a colour combination that evokes more imagery than the timeless maritime pair of blue, white and red. The dapper neckerchiefs of proud sailors reacquainting themselves with the Reeperbahn; the German actor Hans Albers, who remains a legend in Hamburg to this day; the dress uniforms of dashing navy officers on shore leave – blue, white and red are nothing less than haute couture. Even without all these reasons to create a fitting series of fabrics, these colours are as essential as a port in a storm.
